Offerts par Claude Monet à la France dès le lendemain de l’Armistice du 11 novembre 1918, en symbole de paix, les Nymphéas ont été installés au musée de l’Orangerie en 1927, quelques mois après sa disparition. Matin Clair aux Saules I rend hommage à l'œuvre magistrale de Monet Le Matin clair aux Saules de la série des Nymphéas au musée de l'Orangerie. Les saules pleureurs, que Monet peignait souvent comme un symbole de deuil pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, prennent ici une tonalité plus légère et pleine d'espoir. La douce lumière du matin pénètre la scène, projetant des reflets délicats sur les branches fines qui plongent dans l'eau. Monet passed away on December 5, 1926, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of art.
