Peder Severin Krøyer (1851–1909) was a Danish-Norwegian painter and one of the leading figures of the Skagen Painters’ colony. Celebrated for his luminous scenes of coastal life, he had a remarkable ability to capture the changing qualities of natural light, particularly during the long Nordic summer evenings. His elegant compositions and refined treatment of colour made him one of the most prominent Scandinavian artists of the late 19th century.
