Auguste Renoir (Pierre-Auguste Renoir) was born on February 25, 1841, in Limoges, France, and died on December 3, 1919, in Cagnes-sur-Mer. He was a leading French painter and a prominent figure in the Impressionist movement. Known for his vibrant use of color and light, Renoir often painted joyful scenes of everyday life, portraits, and sensuous female nudes.

Early in his career, he worked as a porcelain painter before studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Alongside Monet, Sisley, and Bazille, he helped develop the Impressionist style, capturing fleeting moments and natural light with rapid brushstrokes. In his later years, despite suffering from severe arthritis, he continued to paint, adapting his technique and leaving a lasting legacy on modern art.
